Hi from BC,Canada

Hi!

I like all things samurai, and thought I could try painting models as a hobby.

I’m still on my first one, a 120mm Samurai Warlord from Verlinden. Looks like crap next to the example they have on the box. : )

My biggest problems have been the sword with all the little detail, and the laces interwoven in the thigh and neck guards…

Anyhoo… Just thought I’d say hi!

Hi Doug and welcome!

I have a Verlinden 200 mm samurai bust posted on here but I know very little about the colors and history behind this subject…I just copied the box photos! I am sure there are some on here who can help you out …so good luck and enjoy!

Regards, Dan

Welcome to FSM Doug
I’m sure you’ll find someone to answer your questions of figure painting. Unfortunately it’s not me…I’m just a turret head. I just wanted to welcome you aboard.

Hello there Doug… and welcome to the community. Sorry, but I too am a blur blob when it comes to figure painting. Why dont you submit this query at the figures and misc forum. The guys there should be able to help.
Anyway, Enjoy your stay here!

Cheers,
Nandakumar

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, I noticed figures weren’t as popular as planes, etc. Oh well : )

Hello from Toronto. Love B.C. Spent my honeymoon all around- Whistler, Vancouver, the Island, etc. Ain’t nothing like it anywhere else in Canada. Welcome to FSM. I am sure you will find this a very friendly and useful site!

Welcome aboard Doug. One of these days I’m going to get brave and try painting some figures. It’s interesting and I think it takes a lot of practice to get it where you want it to be. There are some good books around. Kalmbach publishes one that is always advertised on this site. I’m sure there are others. I would suggest picking up a copy if you don’t already have one.
