I’ve been modeling since I was 6 (with a lot of help from Dad). After a long hiatus, I’m back building again: planes, armor, cars, scifi, figures-everything but ships, so far. I’m particularly intersted in USAAF in WWII and prewar a/c, but I’ll build anything I find interesting. Lookjng forward to talking with some of you in the future.
Hi, Keyworth,
My situation is more the converse; have done no modeling since I was 6… Not exacly, but am getting into it in recent years on and off, and more steadly lately. ( I am 46 now. A hobby really helps counter work stress!)
I particularly enjoy USAFF in WWII as well, but like you, not without other interests. A friend of mine gave me a Squadron/Signal book on a WWII Russion fighter and said he ordered the kit for me. I think he is the one that has made me more aware of the Russion air craft from that side of the war. Just something I had not thought about otherwise.
Do you have something right now?
Would you believe the Polar Lights Jetsons kit?!?!? It was a lot of fun to put together. I have to new Polar Lights Godzilla kit as well, the BIG one. Got a few a/c projects in the wings as well. I’ll be going to the Atlanta Model Expo in a couple of weeks and hope to have a couple of contest entries ready. How 'bout you? By the way, I hit the big 5-0 next Wednesday.
Welcome aboard!
Best of luck on your entries! You’ll have to let us know how it goes. I’d ask what the entries are going to be - but wouldn’t want you to give anything away. [;)]
Keyworth,
Hello again, sorry it took me so long to check back after asking you a question. I had not heard the name Polar Lights before. I take it that’s the Jetsons as in the cartoon show? Your mention of that reminded me of a model I did as a kid related to a TV show. There was a show with mariannettes (sp?) called, I think, “Fireball XL-5”. They had some sort of craft, I think a space ship, and I did a model of it.
I am finishing a Guillows balsa/tissue P-40 right now. Then I will be back to plastic. I was going to do a half-track next, but now am not sure; have a few unbuilt kits to pick from.
Happy modeling.
