hi everyone, never done a helo before (always a fixed wing guy) but here goes my q’s:
im thiking about getting the 1/48 trumpeter HH-65. what is everyones opinion on it? fairly simple? lots of work? fit problems? good instructions?
also, on great models.com they list am eduard detail set, anyone used it?
your help will be much appreciated
I built the Trumpeter kit a few weeks ago. The only fit problems are from the bottom fuselage plate. I’ve never seen the eduard detail set, but I’d recommend it anyway since the interior is horribly basic. Decal instrument panels and seats that need to be replaced. Overall, I’m quite pleased with my USCG HH-65A Dolphin. FSM had a review on the kit that is available to read on this website. [tup]
could you give me a link to the FSM review? i cant seem to find it
Go to the Back Issues section. It’s in the October 2002 magazine.
go check out the deatil set if you want on greatmodels.com
oh and thanks for the link.
Good kit, finished it about a month ago myself. Same fit issue as adrake2 with the bottom plate. Had to build the internal avionics compartment and do some other modifications; worth getting the Eduard kit, IMHO (even though I didn’t use it).
This model, and I’m sure the article explains it, isn’t a completely accurate representation of the real HH-65A…it’s more like the civilian version. But it’s a fun build, and mine turned out pretty well.
