HGW stencils

First time with these stencils. On one I couldn’t get rid of that square haze. Procedure- take sheet of stencil, dip in water for a few seconds, apply micro set to surface, take clear film from stencil, apply, mash down with qtip, wait 6-7 hours, take off carrier film. Wipe off any glue residue.

wonder why that one left that square? Too much microset?

I am a bit confused. That looks like decal frosting or silvering. Is that a decal or a dry transfer? When you say stencil, is that the process or the type of marking?

Stencil meaning the marking type. I don’t know what a dry transfer is. These aren’t decals. They are only like a decal in that water is used but the application is different. These are supposed to be superior to decals. I applied more and getting better results. Sorry they are hard to explain. You can see tutorials HGW stencils.

These are wet transfers.

I am currently using a set on the Corsair I’m building. I followed the instructions to the T, and now I am at the step where you are to remove the carrier film. Only problem, the carrier film seems to be firmly attached to the surface. I have tried to get the tip of an X-Acto knife under it, but so far that effort has not worked.

I wonder if I used too much Mr Mark Softener? Has anyone worked with these that could share some insights? As it stands right now, my first Corsair is essentially ruined, and I have a second set intended for the Tamiya Corsair that I am also building but given that kit’s cost I am pretty sure I’m not actually going to use them on it.
