I need a break from airplanes for a while so I’m gonna try this. Picked it up at a swap meet for ten bucks. The plan is to build sub-assemblies, paint the sub-assemblies, then do some weathering and then final assembly. That’s the plan anyway. We’ll see as we go along.
Rinsed everything in Dawn and warm water and now the sprues are drip-drying in the dish drainer in the kitchen while I study the instructions.

Oh this is awesome Frank! I bought a couple of Gundam kits but so far haven’t finished any. Maybe this will be the year! Looking forward to seeing what you go here!!!
OK, so the weather finally warmed up enough that I could go out on the patio/paint bench and do a little painting. I shot all the pieces/parts with Stynyl Rez Gray Primer. Now all the sprues are laying on my work bench in the house. I’ll let the primer cure over night then tomorrow do some panel pre-shadinging like I did on my last two Mustangs. The kit comes molded in two shades of gray plastic and I want my guy to be more colorful.

This is going to be a different kind of build for me because of how these models go together. I’m going to do a lot of the painting and decals and clear coat sealer before assembly. Kinda backwards, sorta. Hope it works.
Gamera, you need to finish your gundams. What I like about this kind of build is I’m not limited by having to be true to the facts and history of a typical airplane or armor build. makes the job so much easier.
Frank: I’ll try to get something done. I really need to push some of these armour builds over the finish line first though.
I’ll admit you’re really inspiring me to get my rear into gear though!
Painting and clear coat are done. The sprues were painted with AK Aluminum and Tamiya Flat Red and clear coated with Tamiya Gloss Clear. Now to put this guy together.

Oh yeah, the red paint isn’t real even because I want to show a lot of wear and tear. Hope it works out OK.
Well, the major components are complete and almost ready for final assembly. Still some fiddley parts to attach at the end. have some detailing to do before final assembly that’s easier to do now. Gonna be pretty neat to see this standing on the shelf. The scale is 1/144, the same as my Boeing Clipper airplanes. It’ll be interesting to see them together.

Nice to see a Gunpla build! The Gundam Origins MS designs are a nice update from the old TV show.
Are you basing your color scheme on the original TV Guncannon?
I’m calling this one done. It ain’t pretty but it wasn’t supposed to be. After all, it’s been out in the field engaged in combat. The paint is Tamiya Flat Red and AK Dark Aluminum with some green and yellow accents. Lots of Tamiya Black Panel Liner and some random decals from the decal stash. For armament it has a rocket launcher on the left shoulder, a three-barrel gatling gun on the right shoulder and an assault rifle. A nice touch is that it comes with a stand to pose the figure. I may do some more detailing later on and the figure still needs some Dullcote to seal everything. I posed it with my two Boeing Clippers because they are all the same scale. Whoda thought. So, without further ado, here it is:

He’s looking pretty decent. I like the Clippers better though. Not only are they Boidies but theys boidys that can be floaty thingys too! I am reading a book series right now that has mech Armor that reminds me of this.

I know you said this was a change of pace but I’d love to see you build a few more.
I’m always on the lookout for something different, Gamera. I’ve been thinking about a Bandai Sand Trooper or a Speeder Bike. Some of the Warhammer kits look pretty interesting too.

The Warhammer stuff has some really neat designs if a little on the expensive side.
