Where can I get a sliced tree trunk base like that?

I have seen something similar along time ago in a craft store. You may want to check places like that. Good luck in your search. You are right that is a very cool looking diorama base.

I was going to suggest making one yourself but the problem is that cutting a tree trunk like that makes the piece extremely prone to cracking and warping.
Check for Bonsai at the internet, you will have great ideas for tree stuffs. For realistifc effects coud try “LIMO”,to represent grass. I don’t know how we call this in english. This is a portuguese word for … i don’t know. But I have a lot of this in garden.
Those bases are readily available at walmart in the crafts section. They are usually with the wood burning stuff . They come in 2 or 3 different sizes. I know Micheals and Hobby Lobby also carry them with more of a selection of wood type. They have bass wood and pine. Good luck, I have a few laying around here that I have been planning on useing as bases.
Chris is right, our Wal-Mart carries them also. What I would like to know is where heck do you get a tree like that? That one is beautiful!
HEY,
I know every one else has siad this, but you can get it at almost any craft store. They arent too expensive and tthey are a pretty good size. I also like the fact that it kinda becomes part of the diorama decoration.

Yup, have to agree with the previous posters.
Any art or craft store should stock a selection of them, atleast over here they do.
Here in the Philippines that type of base is used as a chopping board and is sold on the side streets in some provinces, Laguna to name one, and you can also get them in different thickness from about an inch to ten inches or even the hole trunk if you have to.[:D]
