Hey there Jimz66. Finally got he pictures of my recently finished Revell 1/48 Dog Sabre. Hope they look okay. It’s based the 498th FIS, 84th FG “Geiger Tigers”, Geiger AFB.
This last one is just to show off the nice detail on the top and wings. The decals were by Cutting Edge CED48155 and were tissue thin. Which meant they went on a treat but the lettering curled in around itself, so I had to use those that came with the kit. These actually proved to be a few millimeters shorter than the Cutting Edge examples, and so didn’t quite overlap the the slats as recommended by the Cutting Edge instruction sheet.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I do have to say that the Revell Dog Sabre is a beautiful kit.
Apologises for the blurriness of the images. The actual images are larger, but the site I use for storage is Photobucket and they have a size limit of 250k, so when I downsize the photos, they seem to lose resolution and become blurry.
Sure, the focus was a bit soft, but…is there somewhere else I could psot my photos without having to drastically downsizing them and losing quality?
By the way, a big thnak you to Oggy for doing the honours.
As for the near natural metal finish, that was achieved by first spraying the entire model flat black. When this dried (left for about 24hrs), I sealed this with a light dusting of Games Workshop 'Ardcoat, which is a gloss finish clear lacquer.
When that has dried, I get my trusty Tamiya Gloss Aluminum ( TS-17) and spray away.
Once that’s dry, I seal that with another coat of Games Workshop 'Ardcoat.
The thing with 'Ardcoat is that hte more you spray, the shiny and glossy-er it gets.
So, I spray until I am happy. Bearing in mind tho’ that after applying decals I’d use the 'Ardcoat again and after weathering I’d use the 'Ardcoat one final time.
You end up with one shiny airframe.
Filbert: The sharks mouth is what did it for me! But was a pain to apply over a REALLY complex curve. As I said earlier, the Cutting Edge stuff is fantastic, but it’s tissue thin. The mouth kinda began to break-up as I palced it around the intake. The easiest way around this was to cut it into sveral pieces and join them up as necessary…should have done that BEFORE applying the decal.
And is there a site ( other than Photobucket) for posting photos to link to so that I can post to FSM or can I post directly to FSM??
