Hello, just wondering if anyone has built a kit of a Hetzer. I only found 1 kit out there, this one, http://www.greatmodels.com/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=dr6060
and I was just sort of wondering if it’s super complicated or what. I’ve only built 1 tank so far (a PzIV) so I dont want to get in over my head ![]()
Thanks!
I haven’t built mine yet (have two, including the one above), but from everything I’ve read online, Hetzers are one of the easier tanks to model. In fact, a few web sites have stated that for the armor modeler who wants to try scratch-building for the first time, the Hetzer is a great subject due to its clean exterior and straight lines.
The kit above - being a dragon offering - will have individual track links. I love them. You may not, but this would be a good kit to try IMHO.
Enjoy your modeling…
cool thanks for the info.
Let me know if you find one aailable. I have been looking
I built Dragon’s 6030 kit - early version…
A pretty simple build IMO - nothing too complicated, not too many parts - but the indy tracks will take some time. It’s even got a few photoetched parts.
I found it to be a good kit.
A friend of mine built one and it looks great, indies are alittle tricky but arent they always[:P]I have the command version and flame version both look fairly easy to build.Opon opening them I thought at first there was parts missing cause well there isnt alot to it.[:D] It should prove to be a fairly easy build for ya. Good luck and keep us posted.
I build DML’s command version… It was a great kit, my first attempt at INDY track links. They went together great. I would definately reccomend that kit.
You can find them all the time on E-bay.
What I see most often is the Italeri kit. It was also re-boxed by Revell. It 's a pretty descent kit. It’s an old kit but builds out nice w/ some photo-etched parts for the finer details. It does have the rubber band type tracks.
The Dragon kit is a little better - more detail. The flame-thrower version, thundergod mentioned, can be built as the normal version - there is an option w/ the kit
Try this

Good luck
thanks guys for the info, gonna start scouring ebay now… of course, even if i find one I’m sure it wont gt built for ages, as it seems I’m better at buying kits than actually BUILDING them ![]()
thanks again!
Italeri has the rubberband tracks and I believe the Dragon set includes pe grille. I’d go with the Dragon kit.
Ive built the Italeri kit and found that it is a great starter kit! Its alot easier to build than the dragon kit, and may not have enough detail but its plastic is closer to scale thickness, what i mean is its a little thin. The tracks are so so, but you may be able to find some after market ones that are better. Jerry
