I bought this Revell Monogram 1/48 P-51D Mustang in April of last year. Its been a very fun project to work on, I went with the racing checkerd Big Beautiful Doll schem. The model it self was easy to put together, but the painting has taken some what longer then I thought it would. Im still using spray cans to paint the outer sides. I’ve painted everything but the white and black the goes on the nose. After that its touch up jobs then placeing the decals on.
I left the main landing gear, canopy, windscreen off till later. I made the propeller and spinner front glued together but not glued to the main body so, I can move it to any proseson. One of the features is and unglued gun bay doors, to see the brass shells and the three machines, on the right side wing. Theres the pictures of it in progress, there will be more I have it taped up right now-
Im lost, what is a NMF? On the main frame I used Tamiya aluminum, for the ruders I use Tamiya black, I use medium green for the part in front of the wind screan, and black and white strips on the ends of the wings. The canopy is a free moving peace (back and forth). I don’t know what to use for the radio wire that runs from the back of the canopy to the ruders. I can say its looking really good.
Very nice Mustang!! I did that one when I got back into model building, it can be challenging…
Also NMF = “Natural Metal Finish”, like your Mustang. I use the Tamiya spray paints for my natural-metal planes, too. I like the Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf paint, it makes a nice bare-metal shade for airplanes…
