Here's another cool video.

Here’s another cool video dealing with an F-18. I feel sorry for the A-4 chase plane though [V]. Bryan

Indeed… very fortunate to get out of that one!

Thanks,
Take care,
Frank

what was that? a dogfight for gentlemen?

One of the most dangerous flight tests is stores jettison, because there’s a lot of uncertainty about where the store will go, particularly empty fuel tanks. That’s why there’s some odd looking fins on drop tanks. They’re there to insure positive separation over a reasonable range of speeds and g loadings.

I didn’t see…did the A-4 crew eject?

Scary.

Well here are some more video clips. Bryan

Can you say OUCH!!

After watching it again, neither did I. Bryan

I can’t see the video at the moment, but I do believe I have seen this one previously. Yes, the A-4 crew did eject, it just took them a while. Maybe they were waiting to have good separation from the other aircraft or waiting for the right attitude, but I’m pretty sure they eventually made it out.

I think right at the end of the video you can see the seperation of the ejection seat… the camera continues following the wreckage though.

im sure the guy in the a-4 lived
He must of been pi**ed of tough[}:)]

Ok… let’s see where to start… the air drops gone wrong… that’s classic. I can hear a cash register ringing as all of those vehicles get smashed up. That spitfire video is great… looks like that reporter got way more than he bargained for, and that thing is LOW!!! The Tomcat breaking the sound barrier is very cool… too bad you don’t get sound… I’ll bet it was something to behold. They were all great… and I like the montage as well… I kept saying “ooooohhhhh… ouch” out loud. Thanks for passing these along.

Quick question on the B-52 did the crew make it out? I’ve seen stills of that but it’s the first I’ve seen footage… I can’t remember what airshow it was at.

The crew of the B-52 did not make it out alive. If I remember correctly, they were training for an airshow at Fairchild AFB. The pilot, a full COL was considered somewhat of a hot dog B-52 pilot. Believe there was another senior officer onboard who was “watching” him. Believe they somehow got over a point on the base where the ammo was stored (which was a no-no to fly over) and he overcorrected. B-52s don’t do well in a 90 degree bank at low altitude.

For the BUFF crew there where 4 senior officers on board and all went down with the plane, the pilot was a hot dog and had several counts of not following the Regulations, and had been disciplined before, the crew was practising a low level pass the day before an Open House (1 day air show at an AF Base) and was trying to show off for the media and the rest is history

Shame that they all lost their life for someone’s antics. Bryan
