Hi Ya’ll;

Hey, lets talk about emblems, mainly on a specific large purchase for the Family. Yup, Cars! Now we all know that there is Ford’s " Blue Oval" Right? Chevy’s “Bow Tie”, again Right? Plymouth used to be a “Sailing Ship”. Olds a " Rocket" Am I correct so Far?

Okay, Look around you folks . How many brands carry the Black Oval? How about the lettered Oval, or the Lettered Circle? These are the most brand identifiers around. That’s why in a " Hit and Run" folks arent sure what Kind of car it is. Sure with trucks it’s easier. Ford’s got the Oval, Dodge has got the ram. Toyota says the name all over the truck and Honda-Same as their car! Chevy,and G.M.C. Well, there’s a no Brainer One says G.M.C which stands for General Motors Corporation and the other ( the Bow Tie) for a division that uses Mostly the same parts!

The very fancy cars had at one time raised emblems.The Mercedes “Tri Star”,Chr ysler’s “Penta Star” And of course who can forget the Prancing Horse( Ferrari) or the " Spirit of Extacy" for Rolls Royce. But they have gotten so plain and cheap you Cannot tell them apart at a glance. Besides the Toyota, I guess Ford and G.M. have the squarest Large S.U.V.s ( Dare we say “Suburban’s” anymore?)

I think prior to the Rocket themed emblems, Oldsmobile used some other ones including one with a globe at their center.

If I remember right, Ford and Chevy used a emblem similar to Cadillac so you had to look closely. This was back when gas was in the two digit price range, very few cars had seat belts, and only the luxury card had power brakes and steering as standard equipment, and most cars used a stick shift. Yes, I actually had to learn to drive a stick to get my license back then and there was no picture, just printing on a plain piece of paper ou cut out and stuck in your wallet.

The mid 50’s Ford and Chevrolet emblems were similar, and looked somewhat like a caddy emblem.from the early 60’s

Yes;

They sure did.But, there was a time even this changed.I remember the prettiest looking of the Bunch though. It was a Cat-On a low slung British Car I owned for two years. I believe that " Jaguar" was the car I had the most fun in and it was ONLY a six. Then of course there was the Car with the big crown on the hood.
