As you know ,we all need some insecticide at one time or another . Well , My Landlady bought one bottle with this cool motorized sprayer on it . It said when empty go get a refill bottle .We tried .The bottle she bought has no refills of that type in the San Antonio area ! Had to buy a new bottle/sprayer and throw a perfectly good one away .

The reason I mention this is easy . I ran across the same thing with some model supplies bought at a hardware store .They no longer carry the product , plus they closed the local store !. No one else was willing to help me out of this dilemna .

So Buy your paints and supplies from a reputable hobby outlet Always .And buy it in the sizes you want , Large , medium or small to suit your needs . Always buy more than one though . So , now I have a six pack of Testors " Rubber " no.1183 in the little square bottles .( It’s a good Mixing paint . Neither Black nor grey with a touch of brown .) Lots of tires get painted that way and w/t seals on 1/96 open ship doors .

Thanks for the tip about Testors " Rubber " no.1183; I haven’t yet tried it.

I’ll check for it next time I’m in a Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

Anybody care to take a guess at how many lives would have been saved if the Gov’t hadn’t banned DDT years ago?

Always…and a friend of mine is thinning his with cigarette lighter fluid instead of the recommended Testors brand. I’ll have to try that one of these days.

Might be a distinct advantage if a Ronson lighter is a constant companion …[^o)]

For what it’s worth, lighter fluid is essentially naphtha

Do you know that I have found that Ronson Lighter fluid is a better thinner than regular mineral spirits?

Yup ! I have used it on and off ( when I couldn’t get the mineral spirits ) And it has always worked better than anything else .Plus the squirt bottle ( So you could fill your Ronson or Zippo with fluid -

No Mess - No Bother . Also it didn’t smell that bad either ! T.B. P.S. I proudly use Testors paint products !

Dawg , I’ve heard there’s others . Of course that’s because I piddle around with model trains too .They have to have their own brand wouldn’t you know .But for my stuff it’s Testors all the way ! You Betchya !

Hey , Spruce .Just be careful when buying them .Hobby Lobby has a tendency to cover the now hard to read label with their tag ! Of course Testors printed everything smaller too .I actually have to carry a magnifyer if I am going to purchase any square bottle products . T B

Well, I know a couple of guys who use lighter fluid instead of thinner for washes. It seems to work ok and dries super fast but I generally prefer the slower drying times myself.

You know that maybe you and I prefer slower drying times when washing or filtering .There’s some times I just want it done !
