I am building an old Tamiya 1/35 Sdkfz 251/1 C. It is for the half track group build. Like a donkey, I broke one of the rubber tracks. It came apart in my hand. [banghead][BH] Anyways, does anyone know how I might fix it?? This sucks!!
Hmmm, I didn’t know donkeys were track breakers!! ha!
Well, I’ve certainly been in the same position as you are in now. If it is a “clean” separation, you can drill and insert wire into the blocks to rejoin them, I have done this before and it works very well. Because these little buggers are so small, I would use just one small section of suitible wire, or ideally a clipped straight pin as they are very hard and inflexible. Use your appropriately sized drill bit and a pin vise and drill into each ajoining track block. CA the pin lengthwise into the hole and let them cure for a few hours. I prefer to use slow curing CA so I can play around with alignment before the glue sets.
Not a huge problem. You can sew them together placing the seam at some hard to see spot. I would use a thin strong thread. make just a couple of loops at the edges. Worst case would be to get aome aftermarket track. I don’t trust glue on vinal track.
