hi every one. I need some advice with a Verlinden Tiger I engine. I purched this engine for use with the tager I model that I am building as the kit did not come with one. I tried putting the engine togeather but with no luck as the glue does not work.I even resulted to trying supper glue with no luck. Has any one used this type of engine and what type of glue did you use? Any help would be appreciated…[:(] Hamming
[:D]hi,im not sure ,but i think that kit is resin, and you will have to use a ca type of glue, did you clean the kit,?that might help.[2c] good luck.[:D]
I would only use super-glue with that type of plastic.
Also, you may want to wash the parts in warm soapy water and make sure you rinse all oils off the plastic and also wash it clear of soap when finished. Sometimes a stiff paintbrush will help get the detail parts clean.
good luck!
The above posts are mostly correct. The Verlinden engine set is made out of resin, not plastic. The only glues that will work on it are Cyanoacetate; Super Glue, Crazy Glue, etc. Also, oils from the molding process can be left on the resin parts, therefore, washing them in soapy water may be necessary. This may be why you glue is not sticking.
I have the same kit, the engine compartment sidewalls are PE, and the engine, and air take ups are resin. CA worked just fine for me and I had no issues. I would follow the advice already posted and you should be successful.

I agree that part of the deal is cleaning the parts.I’ve done a lot of resin auto kits and sometimes soap and water is not enough- I soak the parts in a cleaner{409,Purple Stuff,or Westly’s Bleche-Whit. Hope this helps. Rob
a friend of mine told me that he sands his parts a bit before gluing, but I don’t recommend you using it because it might ruin…
