Hi - I’m starting on my Edward LA-7 1/48 scale, and the color chart calls for Mr. Color 0097 - “interior gray”. I’ve searched and googled, and can’t find it listed on color charts.
Does anybody know what the equivalent color in Tamiya or model Master would be? Or better yet, what color were the Soviet fighters interiors painted in plain English?
That site is one that I’ve already checked, and they don’t have “interior grey” listed under either the Mr. Color, or the Mother company (can’t recall name at the moment). Thanks for the help, though!
The(1/72 kit) instructions quote Testors MM 1739 as an equivalent. I would take this with a grain of salt because this is Gloss Gull Grey FS 16440. Also quoted is Humbrol 183 (now discontinued) which is also supposed to match FS 16440 (Light Gull Grey)
Unfortunately there’s no direct Tamiya match. The closest you will find is JN Grey XF-12, which is a little too green and XF-55 Deck Tan, which is a little too yellow/brown.
Edit: The Gunze Aqueous Hobby Color equivalent in the instructions, H-51 is also Gloss Light Gull Grey
Thanks for the ideas guys. I found some pics online of an LA-7 in a Russian museum, and from what I can tell in the pics, it looks like some shade of light to medium grey. I think for now I’ll usea medium grey (gray?) and see how it looks compared to the photos I found.
