Here again with a question for the connoisseurs. I’ve got as a gift in the holidays DRAGON’s 1:48 Master Series pictured below.

I’m in the mood to build this kit and decided to look for some info about it. I came across AeroScale’s review which mentions some kit inaccuracies in the cockpit and the decal sheet. Are there any AM upgrades yet? If I decide to ignore the cockpit, can someone please point me the the rightful decals set? I don’t often build German subjects and I need your help.

I build mostly OOB but every now and then I indulge myself with some AM sets for some of my subjects. I’m a bit confused with this kit, it was purchased locally and still wrapped. I even thought about changing it for something else. Keeping and building this kit is in your hands [:D]

I have this kit and mulled over starting it. I didnt know of any review and about inaccuracies with this kit. Alot of the time the inaccuracy is minor and you need to decide if its worth it for you to start buying AM cockpits because a couple switches are missing or in the wrong place. Personnally, I will be as accurate as the box allows when Im building for pleasure..which is most of the time. If I were building this kit for a competition then Id sweat the details. Are you building this for your shelf at home? Are you worried if these things arent exactly correct? Its up to you. If you like the looks of the kit then build it! Im going to read the review now...maybe Ill be pulling my foot outta my mouth soon…lol!

Thanks Len, honestly, about the cockpit issue I’m not that worried. But even for a personal shelf display I’d like at least the right decals. From what I understand, that review mentions an issue with the decals also. English is not my native language, it is not perfect but it is not that bad either [8-|] and that’s what I understood about the decals.

Well,I will say this…I read the review and under the conclusion section:

  1. Make it a nightfigther and buy correct AM decals…or…

2.Build it OOB and ignore everything

The 3rd options sounds like the toughest and potentially, the most expensive. You can get decals on Ebay for under $20.00 . Me, Id probably go OOB and sand off the stubs for the radar on the nose and use the 2nd option on the decal sheet...seems like the most accurate of the 3 choices. Again..its up to you and how accurate you want to make it.

AND…I wouldve never guessed English wasnt your 1st language!

And with these late-war aircraft, there is always a “what if” factor that you can use if you feel like it!

Yeh, near the end there, tey were getting desperate and trying all kinds of oddball stuff, most of which was never documented. I say build it, enjoy it, and don’t worry about accuracy… Heck, if people can suspend their disbelief long enough to sit through the last Pseudo Star Trek movie, they can get through anything.

Thanks again Len, Vance and Sparrow for chiming in with your suggestions and POV. I’m giving the finishing touches (about an hour left of work) to my1/48 Type 2 RUFE and the Me 262 will be started. I don’t know why, but at the end of that review I kind of felt in limbo with the kit. But now it seems clearer. Thanks so much once again.
