I am making a collection of the various models of the Messerschmidt Bf 109 as the aircraft evolved. I had a difficult time finding a anything before the “E” model and settled on a Heller Bf 109B.
A friend has brought it to my attention the the nose section of this model is “too long”, but has provided no details on how to correct this. Can anyone provide assistance in how to do so?[:I]
Also, any help on any “B” models that were produced by other manufacturers would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I assume you’re talking 1/72nd here. The Heller kit is listed as a B/C, but IIRC it is really a C model since the B had different style exhaust stacks and a smaller air intake. As far as the nose being too long I’ve never heard that, unless you’re really in to rivet counting I’d just go with it as is.
Sword and AML make Dora’s, (I’m working on the AML Dora right now), these are the only other pre-E models available in this scale that I’m aware of (in injection molded plastic at least). The AML is a pretty nice kit when ordered with the resin and P-E accessories. I’ve never looked at converting these to B’s so I don’t how much would be involved.

I have seen a couple of old HobbyCraft 109B and 109C kits in 1/48 on Evilbay.
