I was woundering if some one could help me with some Gundams I am thinking about geting they are.
1/444 Strike
1/444 Aegis
1/444 Mobile Ginn
1/444 Buster
Are they any good? and how do they build up? Since they are only about 5 dollers for each it has me woundering how good they are. I have only built one Gundam so far 1/444 Rising Gundam and I would like to get more. Thanks
WortHog, the kits you are talking about lack posibility, and are really more like statues (although $5 is a good price for them IMO )
Anyway, I’m urrently working on the Blitz kit, and it doesn’t look too bad, though if it were next to it’s 1/144 HG kit, it’d probably look bad (I don’t have the HG kit, so I really can’t comment… )
Anyway, if you want more help, join up at the ChildofMecha.com forums and post a request for reviews in the reviews section, they should be more than happy to help you out!
And Model Museum, your desription is rather close to what they are in Japan These kits were “tradeing kits” kinda like tradeing cards I guess…
Though WortHog, if you can, you’re better off picking up the HG kits of each of those SEED kits, you won’t be disappointed!
Thanks of all you help! A few more things I am woundering about the 1/444 kits do they have alot of parts? and do there arms and legs move any? I am not really in to posing them much just having them on the shelf. And would they look better if they got painted? Thanks of the help!
The Kits are really basic and snap-together. Below find a pic of the 1/144 Zaku Warrior from Gundam S Destiny. The Kit has about 30 pieces, arms and legs are only moveable at shoulder and hip joints.
Just snapped together and still innocent of any paint that would make it look decent.
Akuma I believe some of those new and cheap Gundam kits are even sold in japanese convenience stores.
Boy! I was thinking basic but not that basic! They do look like snap together candy toys! I think I will be buying higher priced ones. Thanks for all your help and the pic of the Zaku.
speaking for myself, im not too happy with the 1/144 scale gundams from the seed series, appearance wise they look fine after you paint them a bit, its the poseability that bothers me somewhat especially after dealing with the previous Wing series 1/144 scale. again this is just my opinion so dont take my word as gospel, but they do help as a learning platform.
Thanks for all of your help. I am going to order the HG Mobile Ginn and see how I like it and the 1/444 Buster since it is so cheap and to compare it with the HG Ginn. Thanks again for the help!
Hi, I am only new to the boards, but I am an Australian living in Japan… Go over to my site, and check out my Gundams, and try and pick which ones are the 1/144 Snap kits, and which ones are the HG ones… I only do Gundam SEED, and DESTINY kits…
p.s… I am relatively new to the Gundam scene also… As I live in Japan, I am swamped by Gundam… Not a store here that doesn’t have Gundam plastered everywhere!.. I started off with the Snap kits as they are a great price. But soon realised that the HG (High Grade) kits are whole lot better! Stick with the HG kits!..
I can get the Snap Gin at my local 7-11 for about $2.50[:D] (Yes, they even sell Gundam kits at the 7-11 here!)
You can try http://www.mahq.net/ they do reviews of lots of anime models. Or you can see if http://www.starshipmodeler.com/ has anything on them. CrazyProbe is the obvious choice but he hasn;t done many reviews as of late.
HG is definately the way to go!.. I also prefer 1/144 scale as the size fits my shelves a little better! And no, I have a normal house even though I ive in Japan… I just like smaller scales!
