Guys:
Hi! [:)] I’m trying to help a friend (he usually builds aircraft) find machines guns for the Mk IV male tank he just bought. He told me last night that the 3 machine guns in the kit are really poor. I’ve been checking the sites I usually go to get my stuff but I’ve never built a WWI tank before so I’m not much help. Does anyone know where he can get aftermarket replacements -are there any other “goodies” available that he could also get for it?
Thanks
Charlie
I had the same problem with mine. The machine guns are basically nothing more than hunks of sprue. I don’t know where to get them, but I was thinking about grabbing some from 1/32 biplane kit or the barrels from an Infantry set . I’ve had no luck and the completed kit remains in my parts box for the time being.
Aeroclub in the UK have white metal WWI era machine guns in various scales; The Lewis machine guns on the Mk IV are not that hard to ‘scratch’ since there is only the barrel end to do… Two sections of plastic rod and some thin strips of masking tape (or thin strips of foil was all I needed to do mine…
I do not think there are any other AM parts for this kit. A thin metal chain would look good on the unditching beam though…
Actually, I was supposing you were talking about the 1/72 kit, but if you are talking about the 1/35 kit, Tom Modelworks have WWI era machine guns in PE; however, you’d be wasting your money since most of the machine gun is behind the rotula, inside the tank…
I did Emhar’s 1/35 Mk IV male and I used the kit Machine guns. I’ve been regretting it ever since. Here’s a decent reference pic. It looks like it’d be easy to sratch build

This pic is entitled “early tank communications”
Guys:
Thanks for the information, I’ll pass it onto my friend, I’m sure that he’ll appreciate it.
