Help! Melted parts = Bad day

I have a big problem. I melted the rear plate of my Tamiya T 34/85(the bit where the exhausts come out). Classic scenario: “i’ll just put that bit under the lamp to speed up the drying process”… I walk away, make lunch, come back and… well you can imagine my reaction… Its beyond repair. Do I have to scratchbuild a new part(which i would rather not do as i dont have the tools or expertise) or can I order a new part from somewhere? I vaguely remember seeing a spare parts order form in a Tamiya box years ago, do they still do this?

Any suggestions welcome

http://www.bringans.com/ seems to be a Tamiya dealer in New Zealand maybe they can get it for you. If that doesn’t work you could try http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/ and mail order it through them.

Been there, done that. I painted the hull on a DML Tiger Late 3-in-1 and placed it under the modeling lamp to dry. Came back a little while later and the sides were warped beyond repair. A $50 model reduced to being used for spare parts. Oh well, live and learn.

If you contact your local tamiya distributor you may be able to purchase a replacement sprue. I don’t think they’ll sell an individual part, but they will sell the sprue it comes on. If they have it of course. Anyway, check out this page for your local guy: http://www.tamiya.com/english/agent/agent.htm

Good luck.
