I’ve been looking for a 1:72 scale B17 for YEARS and I can;t find any. What brands still make the B-17? Andif any of you are from the Philippines, where can I find it?
I would prefer a Tamiya kit. Failing that, I will settle for Hasegawa.
I don’t have my Hasegawa at hand right now, but I know that Academy makes at least 5 different versions of the B17 in scale 1/72 (F, G, C/D, SB17 and “Memphis Belle”)
Hasegawa makes a 1/72 a B-17G; Academy makes a B-17B, a B-17E and a B-17F. Try www.squadron.com or www.greatmodels.com and do a search on B-17. There are a couple of other on line model shops that you could deal with to. I don’t know specific address. [alien]
The best B-17 in 1/72 are the Academy/Minicraft kits, but the Hasegawa is very nice also. They are easily found here, but I can’t help on the Philippines question.

ah is that so? I have always thought that Academy kits were very much inferior to Hasegawa and Tamiya kits.
Why are the Academy B-17s your preferred choice?
Well, Tamiya is the king, but they don’t make a B-17. Academy makes a few stinkers, but so does Hasegawa. The Academy kit has better detail, a better cockpit interior & recessed panel lines. The Hasegwa kit has raised panel lines & less detail. Both can be built into nice models.

Actually when it comes to the panel lines, the Hasegawa kit would be more accurate, since the B-17 was build with overlapping panel.
