Help! I'm looking for a 1/48 Spitfire canopy piece

Hi all, I am trying one more time to find a canopy part for a 1/48 Spitfire. The kit I have is the Tamiya Mk.I version, and I lost the rearmost piece (the non-moveable one behind the sliding piece). I am pretty sure that Spitfires from Mk.I to at least a Mk.IX had the same rear canopy, so any of those Mk’s should work. I think most any kit version should fit, but I don’t know for sure. I talked to Tamiya on 1/2/07, and they said it could take up to 12 weeks to get a replacement from Japan. Well, I talked to them today to check the status, and they said it hasn’t even been ordered yet!!!

So, I thought I would try again hoping that someone out there might have one. Does anyone have one? Please? [%-)]

Hi Daywalker,

If you have to wait 12 weeks, this is such a simple shape I would try push moulding one or check out Sqadron/Falcon for a vac form replacement.

Ok, your lucky I like you. For some reason I have a few front windscreens, alot of hoods, but on rear sections they must only give you one. I then went to the grave yard. upside down in a pile of luftwaffe scrap I found a old hasegawa MKVb spitfire and what do you know the rear canpoy piece is there. I boke it loose with a knife. It’s has already been poorly painted and glued on once but if you know what your doing is still very useable. By taking a tooth pick and some windex you should be able to clean in up, LIGHTLY sand the bottom with a fine grit paper future it and repaint. We will see if someone had a better one for you first. If not you got a little work on your hands if you don’t want to wait. It’s still very clear.

WOO HOO! I’d love to have that part. Sounds like a very useable piece. I’ve had to do that to clear parts before, so it should be a piece of cake.

Which kit is the piece you have from?

Daywalker if one of them had a new piece I would go for that and save yourself added work. If not just let me know.
