Hey everyone, I am going to attempts my first dio but I need some help. I want to make a jungle from the Jurassic period. I know where to get my dinosaurs, but I dont know where to find landscaping supplies for a jungle. I know Woodland Scenics has all sorts of stuff but I’m not to sure it I can make any of it work for me. If anyone has any suggestions by all means let me know. Thanks everyone!

Josh…you might contact ajlafleche and view his Turok vignette a few threads down for some help
I’m not sure where you’re from, but if your backyard isn’t covered in snow right now, natural plants are by far the easiest to fill a large area with a variety of realistic plant growth.
You can use glycerine to preserve their color, or paint them. Here’s an example:

A little bit of gloss gives it all a nice wet look too. Another idea is to purposely let them sit a few days before preserving them, because they will begin to die, and turn bright red and yellow in the tips, which resembles real tropical plants. Check out “It’s a jungle out their” parts 1 and 2 over on Armorama. I found some great tips their as well.
LOL, I live in Colorado, it’s snowing right now. But thanks for the tips guys
Thanks for the vote of confidence but Turok is not Jurassic. The comic book source was in relatively (geologically speeaking, that is) recent history. I did some jungle foliage a few years back for a Predator figure, though.

All the foliage here was from a bag of assorted stuff from Michael’s Arts & Crafts. I think the bag cost 3 or 4 dollars. I sorted the various stuff into zip lock bags.
Now, people who really know their stuff about ancient plantlife, like PatlaborUnit1 would be a good resource for what types of plants would go with your particular dinos. The other thing is time and place, not all dinos lived in either the same time period or the same locales and much like you’d be criticized for a tiger tank on a Pacific island, having two incompatible critters in he same scene won’t work.
