Help finding Aeromaster 48-009

Hey guys, I have been searching for Aeromaster sheet 48-009 Red Stars in the Sky for the better part of a year with no luck. (Aside from ultracast where it is $40.) I was wanting to do white 15,the early La-5 with the shark mouth. I have the right kit, now just waiting to stumble upon the decals. Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

All I can say is keep checking Ebay for the Aeromaster sheet. Those old sheets do come up now and then. I’ve found them for Yaks and La-7s before. Another alternative would be this sheet from AML, which depicts another La-5 with a shark’s mouth:

I see UMM is sold out of this sheet, but it might be easier to find than the old Aeromaster one. Try any UK online hobby shops, such as Hannants or Model hobbies.

Edit: Any shark mouth decals in the Eduard La-5 rebox??

Sad to say, the $40 ultracast may be your only option. These OOP sheets are at a real premium. I looked around a bit and couldn’t find anything. The sabre I recently build was done with a decal sheet I was determined to get. I did find it on ebay, but it cost me $40. Good luck! Check some the sites over in Japan or Eastern Europe?

If you find no cheaper alternative I’d suggest to get one of Eduard’s Limited Edition La-5s instead. It includes decals for the aircraft you want to build and should cost about as much as the decal sheet (and it’s a complete La-5 kit with resin wheels and a bit of PE)

Dang! Wish i would have known about that Eduard Limited edition before I got the Zvezda kit, that looks sweet!

Clemens has your answer! Whatever kit you end up building, please share it here. Not too many VVS subjects being built on the Forums.

Oh I plan on it. One of the reasons I was wanting to do that scheme was that was a '45 bird, so I was gonna do her for the 1945 GB.

Didn’t know there were La-5’s still in front line service in '45. Mostly -5f’s and -5fn’s, and La-7s out of the Lavochkin bunch at the end of the war.

Well there may not have been, I’m just going in the description on the Aeromaster sheet. But there were I-16’s on front line service as late as Spring '43, so I don’t suppose early La-5’s still doing work in '45 seems too far fetched.
