I’ve been browsing this forum for a while, and recently registered. I’ve read a lot of cool and informative posts and hope to contribute the same in the future.
Like most everyone here I’ve been modeling since I was old enough to tear the parts from the tree and slobber glue all over the unpainted plastic. Modeled heavily until my teen years when it became a part-time hobby. Continued on through college to a minimal degree and then left the hobby entirely for about 15 years. Have returned to the hobby in earnest, in conjunction with one or two other fun time-eaters.
I modeleled 1/48 WWII aircraft and 1/35 AFV 90% of the time, occassionally building a car, WWI plane, ship, etc. Not a single model survived my youth (perhaps some of you can relate :). In college I picked up an airbrush and started building models for people, which was a lot of fun.
Recently, I’ve been modeling German and Russian AFV almost exclusively. My ‘intention’ is to build a 1/35 ‘museum’ of German armor. With some extensive Google and Wiki searches, I think I have a comprehensive list of every 1/35 German AFV kit available and will over time try to work my way through a representative portion of it. Russian tanks amuse me for their brute simplicity and they break up the German armor routine.
What I enjoy talking/reading about the most is the painting aspect - and I enjoy tryinging new techniques.
I am currently in an SdKfz 251/17 1/35 kit from Dragon. Next in line is a SdKfz 164 Nashorn 1/35 from Dragon/DML (the premium kit). Just finished a T-34/76 1943 (Tamiya) 1/35 kit.
