Welcome back to the hobby!!
Welcome back to the hobby! You’re following the same path many of us have followed.
I can’t speak to new books, but I recommend Shep Paine’s “How to Build Dioramas”. It’s a great primer for someone starting out, or getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus.
Beyond hardcopy books, there is a lot of content online, now, too. If you use YouTube, you can find a lot of modeling content there. Again, I have no specific recommendations for armor modeling or building dioramas. Though I do follow David Youngquist’s Last Cavalry channel. LastCavalry is Dave’s store, and while his concentration is heavy towards figures, he has good content on diorama and scenery work, too. His channel is here:

I look forward to seeing your builds!

Welcome aboard.
Osprey has a good selection of modelling books on various subjects so they are worth checking out. There are a number of different approaches to weathering, things have changed a lot since you last built a model. It ranges from artistic approaches like modulation to the more realistic finishes.
