Hello from Miami

Hello everyone my name is Fernando Granja. I’m trying to get into models so if you have any advise I would love it.

Pick a cheap but interesting kit to start with.

Welcome to the gang. I agree with cassibill just stay clear of Hobby Craft, Modelcraft and a few others or you’ll be disapointed and discouraged. There’s lots of very good and reasonably priced Tamiya. Accurate Minatures, and alike out there.

what kind of modeling interests you? that is the place to begin. once you find things that interest you, you will find the whole hobby opens itself to you. i see you have been on fsm for a while and will not bore you with a welcome that you probably recieved soon after joining. i will say good to see you active and actively pursuing this fantastic hobby. in short welcome back.

hola Fernando,
First narrow what subjects fascinate you the most the shop around and all you local Hobby/Craft shops. Something will eventually jump out at you if not several at once. Decisions Decisions. Once you’'ve narrowed down you choices. Check the skill level on the box itself. When i first started I did a Skill 2.
If this is you first model you might want to stick with revell or AMT. One of the more popular brands because they have very detailed directions. Some kits manuals don’t say what a part is or their picture diagrams are very vaque and hard to read. Just remember this is for fun and personal accomplishment. My first two models I built i did to familiarize myself with how the whole process works and what difficulties I might encounter. So play around abit and enjoy.
Also a good basic tip is to test fit all parts before glueing just to make sure the parts are aligned and won’t need any modifications such as sanding or realignments. the more the merry so jump aboard my friend.
Take Care [:)][:D][8D]

Welcome to FSM and the forums. As lilBear has said, just find something that interests you, check the skill level and cost and try one on for size. Keep things simple, learn as you go, and you’ll make building models a pleasurable experience rather than a painful trial. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to FSM and the forum. The folks here can really help you when you need it. My little piece of advice to you is to not twist the model parts from the sprues (part trees) but cut them off with small cutters. Twisting the parts will really mess them up.

Thanks for the hello.

Welcome to FSM.

Welcome to FSM Fernando. Good to have you join us.

Pick something you have interest in, like A/C, armour, cars … whatever … then jump into the forums and ask questions.

Enjoy !!!

Welcome to FSM!

Welcome to the forum. The posters are great and informative. Definitely start with a inexpensive kit in an area of your interest. Clean and test fit the parts before gluing. (sometimes in our haste even experienced modelers realize the importance of these steps after we paint or try to) and enjoy what you built. I like to get a hold of as many pictures of the item to be modeled, any research books for history, facts, and of course color schemes. When you’re done, see what you liked and didn’t like and try to improve. This forum is a great source for that.

Remember Good Luck and have fun!

Welcome to the family!! I went out and bought a bunch of cheap models in various scales, and genres. I haven’t given up on any of 'em. I want one of each genre on my shelves. But I find I gravitate towards cars and mainly A/C. Could be 'cause I work on A/C in real life.

Welcome to the Forums

Remember ask questions often and also the only stupid question is the one unasked . Enjoy .

Post some questions and we’ll try to answer them.

Hi Fernando, and welcome to the asylum.

Just like everybody else said. Start slowly with what interest you. You’ll be hooked in no time flat.
