Hey all. Been awhile since I’ve posted anything. Had a crazy beginning of summer and now I’m in Germany on vacation. I’m up north in Bremen. I’ll cut to the chase here, I’ll be headed to the Deutsches Panzermuseum Tuesday or Wednesday! I’ll be getting pictures of everything there so don’t worry.If you guys want anything specific let me know.
I’ve also learned that von Manstein’s grave is in a villiage called Dorfmark near Fallingbostel that’s on the way to the museum. I want to visit it but I can’t seem to find the graves location within the town. Anyone privy to this info?
I missed this when I was stationed there in 1997. Looks like some good tanks for the Heer (I hate when people refer to the German Army in World War II as the “Wehrmacht”) and Bundeswehr.

Hey again. The museum was awesome. If any of you find yourselves in Germany the museum is a must see for any WWII or modern armor fan. There was a pretty even number of each era. If any of you were expecting Tiger pics it was unfortunantly not present. I belive I heard it was being worked on. Anyway, here are some teaser pics. I wish I could have gotten more detailed pics of modern stuff but my camera battery was dying shortly after I got to the modern stuff and then promptly died.

I was wondering the same thing but my guess is that an Isreali museum wanted something from Munster’s collection and they traded.

Like asked above try and get some interior pictures of the popular WWII vehicles. Visit the museum during a slow time & ask the person with the most authority to do so. Explain why you want the interior pictures & offer to even remove your shoes as to not scuff the finish of the vehicle. One open hatch with the camera reached inside without going in would be enough. They may even arrange a after hours visit for you to do this, also note this forum is world wide & will help promote their facility.
It is a 38cm RW61 Strummorser. It fires a 38 cm rocket assisted shell. The small holes around the main tube are to vent the exhaust gases forward, which I suppose also helps recoil. 18 where made between August and December 1944. Used mainly in the defence of the homeland. This from the Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII.
Next up will be a T34 mod 43. I’ll get the Soviet stuff out of the way first since there were only 2 from WWII and the rest was Cold. Unfortunantly my camera died shortly after I got to the Cold war stuff.
Nice rusty tracks on the SU-100. Having seen a T-34/85 up close, I thought it rather smallish and imagine that the crews quarters were quite tight, much like most Soviet tanks of the period and even today compared to our modern armor.
