Like a lot of folks it seems I’ve rediscovered model building after leaving off many years ago (I stopped sometime around the age of 13). In my late teens through early thirties I painted an enormous amount of lead figurines to go along with my weekend Advanced Dungeons and Dragons sessions. I got pretty good at it too.
So now I’m in my late forties, decided I desperately needed a hobby, so I bought, of all things, Revell’s 1:96 USS Constitution. After 14 months I reached a point where I could pretend it was finished. These things I will never understand:
Why on earth did I start with that behemoth?
Why didn’t I Google for information about this kit (and model building in general) while I was building it? I’m a software developer so it’s not like I’m computer illiterate.
Why did Polly-S paints disappear? I loved those paints! (I know about Polly Scale).
I survived the Constitution and I am just about finished with Revell’s Big Boy train engine and have started the B17-G. I haven’t settled on any particular type of model I want to specialize in although I do love ships more than anything else.
I finally started googling and here I am. Just dropped in to say hi. [8-|]
