In the “first powered flight” on December 17, 1903. The “Wright Flyer” had metal work on the wing, both front rudder and rear rudder and on the shaft support. What was the coating color on it?
I just saw that thing at the Smithsonian a couple of weeks ago. I am pretty sure that it is gloss black. Try the national Air and Space Museum website for pictures in color.
