HELLCAT

So here’s a couple pics of my latest. Eduards 1/48 F6F-3. This is my first show and tell so enjoy, and of course all comments welcome.

Looks good! Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done [tup]. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Nice build! Weathering looks top notch. Keep em’ coming!

Nice! The weathering is very well done, and not over-the-top.

She is a beauty! If I have but one suggestion…all the great weathering but the tires look too new and shiny! [:D] You may be interested in something a found while browsing wingnuts website:

looks great, but I agree as well w/ the tires…a little dirt/mud or grime would go a long way on them!

Excellent Hellcat you have there! Those Eduard kits sure build into nice models, may have to get one for myself. Thanks for the photos, very well done. [tup]

Looks great! Been thinking of starting mine myself. Thanks for the show and tell [:o)]

There usually isn’t a lot of mud on carrier flight decks…

Mark

I have that one in the stash as well. Yours came out very well done. The staining and weathering is very effective. Great job…

Andy

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. You guys are spot on about the wheels too. I’ve been staring at that thing for days and not once did that catch my eye. Guess it needed a fresh pair. I’ll be fixing that soon for sure. Thanks again. Cheers.

Looking wonderful, Christian!

In lieu of your red vs. green comment on your post…I was wondering about the inspection port et al panel lines appearing to be rusted. Green, gray or black would seem more likely as aluminum doesn’t rust.

Not being a tire expert, other than that…really love the overall effect![tup]

I assume your refering to the under side panel lines? That color just didnt turn out the way I envisioned and I was too lazy to redo it. I was going for just a over all grubby look and it turned out rusty looking. Hope this covers your question, and thanks for your compliments. Cheers.

LUV AT FIRST SIGHT!

Outstanding.

Put a flat spot on each main wheel where they meet the ground and she’d be PERFECT!

Yours is the first Eduard F6F kit I’ve seen and having just finished the Hasegawa one, it was nice looking at your build.

I agree with the others about the tires.

One thing I can’t see in the photos and I’m curious about. Did the kit include the separate armored glass piece to fit behind the windscreen? Is it there and I’m missing it?

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it in the kit I built and was wondering.

Thanks for sharing, nice job.

Thanks Mike. Your compliments appreciated, and no, the kit did not include additional armored glass. To be honest I did’nt know to look for one, as this is the first F6F I’ve built. Over all I was pleased with Eduards kit, though the guns were terrible. I just replaced them with styerene tube, and even that was a huge improvement. The decals were on the thick side I thought. I applied several coats of micro-set to get theme to behave. Fit, recessed surfaces, detail, PE, all excellent with this kit

I like her, paint and weathering look great, I like the gun barrels too.

Nicely done Hellcat for sure.

looks good buddy…just bought this kit(my first eduard) and am very impressed with the looks of it…great price too!!!
