Hi there,

I would like to join Huey Group build, but as a beginner I would appreciate advice in selecting the kit I should go for…
I decided to go for 1/48, because all my helos to date are this scale, and I found following options:

  • Italeri UH-1D Slick,
  • Revell/Monogram UH-1C Huey Hog,
  • FUJIMI UH1-B Black bunny (Iroquis and normal?),
  • Heller UH-1N USAF
  • Corgi Classic UH-1E

If you could help me with selection and maybe recommend me online store with nice selection of helos (for some reson in Poland there is problem with buying some models, basically only Italeri and sometimes revell are fairly easy to get…). Please remember that I am inexperienced byilder, so I probably will not use any enhacers (photo-etched etc)…

I havent built any 1/48 scale helos, but I here revells huey hog is a good kit. A few people in this build are building it.
You could try www.greatmodels.com but i am not sure if they ship to poland.
also you could try www.squadron.com
Italeri does make some nice 1/72 Huey’s.
Oh, And don’t worry, I havent used PE yet either, I am still not very good.

They’re here, they’re here. My seats are here, I ordered them on Wednesday the 8/18/04 and they arrived no fewer than 5 working days later. Who says the worlds postal system is [censored] up??

Now I have some resin seats, how to I work with them??
What is the best way to remove them fom the casting block or spur?

Well I’m going to have to change my build, Delete the hog and put me down for Italeris 1/72 UH-1. Aren’t cats fun?

So it begins!!
So far I’ve I’ve glued some parts and done some seam work. I plan to paint the interior sometime this week. I am still thinking if I should pick up the Cobra Co.'s resin blades for it.

HomagerMan I cut the resin parts from the block either with a clip or with a knife; when the block is really big I use a saw. Of course once they are off the block I use needle files to remove the excess resin. To glue them you’ll need cyanoacrylic glue, I suggest in gel so you can place the part before the glue dries, and believe me the liquid CA dries veeery fast.

balta1 looks good so far.
You wanted to know about the grey I used: It’s Vallejo 907 Pale Greyblue, washed with Humbrol 32 “don’t-remeber-the-name” and drybrushed with Vallejo’s 907 again.

You can count me in. I have started on MRC’s 1/35 UH-1C which I am building as the first 174th AHC bird to have the famous Flying Tiger Sharks Teeth painted on. I’ve got the M/R pylon assy completed as well as most of the crew comartment. Having to do a bit of shaving and triming to get everything to fit right without any major gaps. Any suggestions on where I can post some pictures? Never had anything to show before.

Thanks buddy! I’m back at work this week. I spent 5 days out of my 7 off working on the Huey last week. I’ll see if I can figure out how to post some pictures next hitch home.

I used neutral gray FS 36270 on mine. It looks fine to me.
