I have always used Eduard PE and have never had any problems bending it. I have hurd that people using Aber PE need to heat it in the oven prior to use. What do you know about that and what do I need to know/ do? I have the large PE set K02 for the Panther and an Etchmate. Thanks, Greg.
I used the same set and everything went fine without annealing . Some modlers have success with annealing, but I didn’t find it necessary.

[#ditto] Never had problems with Aber or Eduard but did have to anneal the p/e frets that DML put into some of their older kits.
In my experience, Aber is softer than Eduard. Still I do anneal the small PE parts. They are already difficult enough to handle, annealing them will make it easier to bend.
How ever, puting them in the oven wont be enough. I use a small blow torch that has 1300 degree Celcius flame when the PE is glowing red hot I cool it in water. Be careful, holding the flame in the same place for too long will melt the PE.
Thanks guys! Greg.
Annealing, heating and then letting the PE cool down slowly will make the metal a little softer, easier to bend.
Tempering, heating the metal and then rapidly cooling it will make it harder to bend.
