He-59B

This is the Aviatio USK 1/72 scale He-59B that I started a couple months ago. I had replaced the entire interior because the kit version really sucked but once I had closed the fuselage I had lost steam and the build stalled. I had also made all new detail parts for the engines and dressed them up. Now I’m back on the horse so to speak. The lower wing has been attached and I’m starting the strut work to place the upper wing. Before doing the final glue on the upper wing I installed cross struts from the engines to the fuselage. Once the upper wing was in place on the four uprights I started placing the supporting struts on top of the engines. There are just a boatload of different struts in this area and I still have to lay in the rigging. You may notice a difference in color on these struts - I got tired of trying to clean up all the kit pieces and just started making new struts from contrail material.

Matt,

Nice work so far. Do the crewmembers have to draw a map to find their way around in that cavernous fuselage?

Is it a vacform?

You’re a glutton for punishment Matt. Very nice work so far.

Regards, Rick

Yes, it’s a vacuform kit. I just spent over an hour getting one float installed - 8 individual struts.

Matt, I just checked your website in the German page and didn’t see this build. what up? You holding out on us?[:-,][;)][:D]

Not sure if you ever mentioned it before, but looking at the front of the fuselage from the top, it has an almost “amphibious” look to it.

And great work on the Props. The wood grain looks very realistic and the darker color gives the wood a “Cherry” appearance, i think! Wow!

Nice work. Vacuum formed kits are challenging aren’t they. I did the firm’s B-32. What paint did you use to get the wood effect? I working on a racer which has a wooden prop and don’t know what paint to use

Actually this one is at the bottom of the main page but the last update to that feature was Oct 16. I’ll try to get it updated tomorrow.
