He 111H-10- at long last!

I’ve been sporadically posting in-progress bits here for the last two years, but here it is. Full interiors and bomb bay, every hatch and door opened, surfaces animated, you name it. Lots of scratchbuilding, as well as Eduard, Verlinden, Cutting Edge, True Details, Koster, Aeromaster, Aires, Super Scale- not to mention the reference library! Obviously, I’ve loved every minute of it! The Kettenkrad is Tamiya with Eduard PE. The base is Verlinden’s compass stand with foamcore surround and static grass. Figures are in progress, and I still have to add the Kuto-nase, but here she is.

And every minute you put into it was well worth it. It is truly outstanding. After 2 years… are you king of sad it’s over? I know when I am enjoying a build, I like to see the end result but I also wish in a way it would keep going.

wow, looks awesome

Oh crap! I just wet wet myself! This is awesome! Compass stand, weighted tyres-my God!

That’s incredible man ! The detail, the base, the weathering - it’s all nice.

The best He-111 I have ever seen! How did drop the flaps? Did you scratchbuilt them or did you use an update?

B.

That’s one very nice model. Only a true artist can apply weathering to that level of realism. Great work and thanks for the inspiration.

Jerry

Great work the weathering is fantastic.

I’ve seen better…

HA! Whatever! That’s fantastic, truly a work of art! [tup]

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! That thing is awesome! Great job!

Thanks, my friends, thanks! I get 90% Plus of my inspiration from the boards- you guys are the greatest! I’ve so often felt like a poser, posting things so piecemeal while others are so prolific. Slow and steady… That upper front canopy tried my soul! It fell of twice and was masked three times- I just ain’t that smart- I should have added a simple lip of styrene to the upper fuselage- learn from my mistakes- please! [xx(]

Wing_Nut- something in me says this one will never be over! Little bits, little bits- when I come home from my LHS (which is The Military Shop in Long Beach, CA- lucky me!), I’ll tell my wife that I bought some books, magazines and “bits”. She knows… [:D]…

Dragonfly- yes, I built those flaps myself. Cut 'em from the wings, built up the rounded edge, filled and sanded- and filled and sanded! Some detail was added in the wing root as well- now all but invisible. The semi-elliptical nature was a challenge. After the fact, I simply could not find a single photo of a '111 at rest with the flaps down- apparently it was SOP to raise the flaps on terra firma. Gol-durnit! It still looks cool, though- I should have determined which lever in the cockpit ws responsible and position it accordingly. I did position the stick to match the surfaces (as best I could [:p]).

I’d like to write an article on this experience- would you find it interesting? Ther’s a lot to ramble on about and a ton of pix. I’ll close for now by crediting my brother (in-law) Art Homa for the images you see posted here- thanks, Artie!

that is the best looking aircraft i have seen in a long long while - absolutely fantastic!
