This is Hasegawa’s new 1/72 He 111 H-6 kit and it was a real pleasure to build and I am pretty happy with the end result despite my ineptness.
As it was for the Battle of Britain GB (late in the battle that is) the kits decals which are all for the Russian front were not appropriate. There is not a lot out there at the moment for the HE 111 in 1/72 for the BofB so I had to make some of my own and mix them in with the kit decals to come up with these markings. The markings are for I/Kg 26 based out of Norway. For the cockpit I used Eduards prepainted set (the small set). I used Model Master acrylics and pastels for the exhaust stains and to shadow the airleron joints and sealed it with the MM acrylic flat. Didn’t want to do too much weathering as it is supposed to be newly arrived on the BofB scene.
Joe, I was really impressed by that Eduard set. The only thing was that even with the magnifying lamp I could barely manage to get the throttle levers in place because they were so tiny. You can barely see them in the cockpit with the glass on but I know they are there. [:D]
Magnificently done! I especially like the stains on the undrcarriage and the interior detail. I can on;ly hope to come close to this ability. Well done.
Ineptness??.. not al all… really good job with your He-111… I really like those cockpit details, I’ve only built those simple Italeri He-111… too much difference, instead of detail them, I’d better buy one of this Hasegawa kits…
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. This is my first major undertaking since returning to the hobby Last May and your encouragement means a lot. Now what to do next?
