He 111 H-6 for Battle of Britain GB

This is Hasegawa’s new 1/72 He 111 H-6 kit and it was a real pleasure to build and I am pretty happy with the end result despite my ineptness.

As it was for the Battle of Britain GB (late in the battle that is) the kits decals which are all for the Russian front were not appropriate. There is not a lot out there at the moment for the HE 111 in 1/72 for the BofB so I had to make some of my own and mix them in with the kit decals to come up with these markings. The markings are for I/Kg 26 based out of Norway. For the cockpit I used Eduards prepainted set (the small set). I used Model Master acrylics and pastels for the exhaust stains and to shadow the airleron joints and sealed it with the MM acrylic flat. Didn’t want to do too much weathering as it is supposed to be newly arrived on the BofB scene.

Thanks for looking, comments welcome! [:D]

Very nice! You did a great job on on this aircraft.

Nice work and photos…cockpit looks very good!

That is one fine HE111. Great job.

Nice looking HE 111 H-6

Thanks guys for Your kind comments.

Joe, I was really impressed by that Eduard set. The only thing was that even with the magnifying lamp I could barely manage to get the throttle levers in place because they were so tiny. You can barely see them in the cockpit with the glass on but I know they are there. [:D]

Very nice job Dave. I really like the cockpit.

Magnificently done! I especially like the stains on the undrcarriage and the interior detail. I can on;ly hope to come close to this ability. Well done.

Excellent build Dave. The Eduard cockpit details really stand out. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

I like the whole blasted thing !!!

Very nice. I don’t see many He-111’s,and yours is pretty darn good.

Looks great Dave, nicely done.

Look great nice clean build

That’s awesome. With regard to the throttle levers, I also take a disproportionate pride in including details that no one else will ever see.

Heinkels unite! That’s a fine job on a small bird. Such a clean canopy, and beautiful interior- cheers!

Love it!! Absolutely love it!! It’s a nice clean build. I love the subtle stains underneath. Nicely done pit. Love that cool little placard.

Ineptness??.. not al all… really good job with your He-111… I really like those cockpit details, I’ve only built those simple Italeri He-111… too much difference, instead of detail them, I’d better buy one of this Hasegawa kits…

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. This is my first major undertaking since returning to the hobby Last May and your encouragement means a lot. Now what to do next?

One hell of a Heinkel mate. Truly stunning.

Hard to believe that cockpit is 1/72 !

That’s a nice Heinkel, mate.
The delicate staining on the undersides is quite effective. Well done.
