i have monogram’s He-111 in 1/48 but the main canopy is cracked on the top and along the side.
i bought squadron’s replacement but it is not a direct replacement for this kit, and would involve using the bottom half of the original, which is not ideal.
it would also not rectify the crack in the side, which would still be visible.
does anyone make a direct replacement?
i hear that both Koster and Falcon make them, but neither company has a website - any ideas?
also, if i want to use aftermarket parts to replace the MG15 in the kit, and install a couple of MG FF’s, which company makes the best accessories?
if anyone has some good Battle of Britain / Blitz references for the He-111, i’d be very grateful.(i already have the Squadron “In Action” book).
The Falcon set number you are looking for is Set Number 38 Luftwaffe Part 4. It is sold by a company here in UK called Hannants. (www.hannants.co.uk) not sure if the do overseas mailing.
i am trying to find out if the canopy in this set is what i am after, as i don’t really want to blow £10 and find out it’s the same sort of thing as the squadron one.
falcon seem to have gone under, as i can find no up to date reference on them - all the links posted in old reviews are defunct.
Falcon actually makes the Squadron canopies- the one you have is the only one out there, and it’s for the H-10 and later versions. The Koster set doesn’t include the main canopy, to the best of my knowledge. Bummer! My advice would be to email Revel/Monogram directlt for a replacement part. Good luck! BTW, the Kagero He 111 books are great references, and have plenty of BOB examples.
