I’m tempted (by some of the new releases) to return to 1/700 ship models after a 10-year lapse, but I’ve got a question for this group. Can anybody recommend a good choice for post World War II haze gray paint? I’m accustomed to brush enamel, but if someone has a good idea, I’m open to alternatives. Thanks…
Poyscale acrylics, and White Ensign Models both make a good Haze Gray.
Nooooo! The Pollyscale acrylic Haze Gray is the purple-blue based color used by the US Navy during WWII. It is not approproate for a modern US Navy color.
The Fed-Std specification for modern Haze Gray is 26270. Testors MM Neutral Gray is 36270 (i.e. flat vs satin finish).
White Ensign Colourcoats enamel is also an excellent choice for either handbrushing or airbrushing

Ed, what color do you use for the anti-skid surface on the decks?
For deck gray I use ModelMaster Gunship Gray. For new flightdeck non-skid I use ModelMaster Engine Gray. Old non-skid gets weathered with the gunship
