I bought the Teknics Bombcat conversion set for the Tamiya 1/32 Tomcat. It has new afterburner nozzles and a few airframe parts. The problem is it only came with one afterburner can! I sent it back to Meteor and they promptly mailed me another one, with only 1 afterburner can[xx(] I looked on their site and the item pic only shows 1. So, if it only comes with one, what in the heck am I supposed to use to make the other one? Maybe I am missing something here, but if you have used this kit before, please, fill me in.
Why not ask if you can just buy 1 afterburner can ?
This way you will have 2.

It looks like Teknics/Meteor doesn’t know how many engines the Tomcat has. I quit dealing with them because their prices are way too high.
That is true Bud, but I really don’t feel like I should have to, I mean, its pretty common knowledge that the Tomcat has 2 engines, or at least I thought it was. I guess I will have to look elsewhere, cause the last time I called them, they said to send it back and they sent me back the same thing?
Ya know, its funny, I looked at the CAM set, then it showed a picture of the Teknics set I bought, their pic only shows 1 afterburner can as well? Maybe Teknics doesn’t know the Tomcat has 2 engines???
Well, you can buy a can for an F-16, That should do it, but I think I will be sending them an email asking why the Teknics kit is only half there!
If its gona give ya headache this what i would do just another teckics set that way you have 2 nozzels, I know more money , but if the update set comes with other parts youll have spares.[2c]
True, and I thought about it, but man, thats another $32! I mean, if it was $5 or $10, that would be one thing, and I don’t really plan on doing another big 'Cat. I ordered the F-16 nozzle for the F-110 engine (same nozzle and engine for the Viper and 'Cat) for $15, but I still feel that if you pay for something, you should get everything, or at least be given an explanation as to why you don’t get everything.
I agree why would a companey make a single engine nozzle update set for an A/C that has two engines i think id contact custamer service and complaine and pich a fit with them.
[2c] I agree with you, in principle, if you buy a.m kits, they should be complete. Maybe the easiest way to go is to resin cast another can. It is a fairly simple part to cast and the process is pretty straight forward. FSM had a really good how-to on this subject a while back, check the archives.

well i do have to say this…when shut down the f-14’s cans are open and closed…if they sent you one and its closed more than likely theyre expecting you to use one of the kits cans to simulate the open one…
If thats the case then i beleve the manufacure should state that in the descrption when retailing them. its kinda like fasle information.
Well, this is true, for a bit, but on the B models, the afterburner cans usually come open after a bit of time. Much like when you see F-16’s parked on the ramp, the motors are usually open from lack of hydrulic pressure. Another problem is the kit is made for the Tamiya 1/32 A model, so there isn’t any chance of using the A can for a B.
