Have you heard of Mini hobby models?

Are they any good. I build this armor model and 2 ships from them.

Are those the little pewter kits ? or are you talking about Hobbycraft ?

I think he means those:

MiniHobbyModels are all reboxes of other kits. Some Trumpeter, some Dragon, and even some Tamiya (like their 1/350 USS Enterprise CVN-65).

Nope… The kits are horribly dis-formed. The only good thing about the kits are they are CHEAP.

There are tons of flash, twisted plastic, sinkholes as deep as the ocean, mis-fitting parts, joint problems and what-have-you…

However, if you are up for a REAL CHALLENGE… go ahead and buy it. [:p]

Oh, I wouldn’t give them such a harsh review!
I have the 1/48 Su-35 and Mi-24 Hind, and they’re really not bad at all. My two samples are flash-free and well-molded. Some of the scribing on the recessed panels lines is kinda shaky in a coupla places, but overall I’d say these kits are more than worth the price. And these babies are CHEAP!

I thought all of these used to be Trumpeter kits? Or older Trumpeter kits were from this company? I’m confused now.
Anyhow, I built a few of their 1/35 armour offerings, namely t-72, and it they are decent kits. Definitely not perfect fit and detail, but you get what you pay for. They build up fairly decently, require some cleanup, and are perfect platforms for detailing.

I built a few of their 1/144 kits (3 to be exact, have a few more to go ) They’re not too bad, but obvious that they’re not MH’s molds really…

also have the 1/48 Su-27, seems a bit iffy in quality, but not too bad really…

Though I didn’t put some decals onto my 1/144 Pahntom because they didn’t fit… Dunno if that’s because their kits aren’t the same size as the origionals?

I still like that Phantom alot, regardless (I actually have two of them now, need to build the 2nd… )

I think their kits aren’t too bad, and pretty good on the priceing…

I also have two F-15s, one MH and one Mini Craft… they both seem the same, minus a few spots… They probably did use the same molds, but I don’t have any 1/144 F-15s from any other company, so I wouldn’t know if it’s someone elses

I have their 1/350 Arizona and it isn’t bad. A little PE and maybe some resin and she’ll look great!

Mini Hobby Models is Trumpeter’s budget line of kits.

Not all of their kits are really all that bad. Be careful though, some of their 1/72nd modern planes have stickers instead of decals for markings. [:D]

I have a friend (buck) who built a MHM 1/72nd F-5E OOB and just within one week, and he claims that he enjoyed building it.

Here’s a link to his build review: http://ipmsphilippines.proboards32.com/index.cgi?board=planes&action=display&thread=1120488267

I also bought a MHM 1/48th Mi-24 Hind for PhP 450.00 (roughly US$ 8.00) to give it a try and so far I haven’t been disappointed with the kit. [:D]

I bought a Mini Hobby USS Bunker HIll and the kit doesn’t look bad for the six bucks I paid for it, but the instructions are almost entirely in Chinese. I suspect it will wind up on ebay or the next garage sale.

resurrection of the dead post… Heehee. Anyway, all old trumpeetr kits are HORRIBLE. Most notably their T-72 family which are all pieces of sh*t. Anthing reboxed of Tamiya’s ought to be good though.
