how about a kingtiger that was used in 1946 when the Germans joined the British and US forces and fought against the Russians
Or possibly swap the running gear for some anti-grav engines on the bottom – finally, some mobility for the Tiger II. Or give it Japanese markings and have it toted around on a palanquin by Allied POWs – lots of Allied POWs.
If I understand correctly, this is for some kind of science fiction GB, but the US would not have used German vehicles in service. They were too valuable as study sources, were very mechanically unreliable, and replacement parts and ammunition would have been limited at best. The Russians occasionally pressed German heavy vehicles into service, but even they acknowledged that the things would soon break down, so the crews rode them into the ground, which generally didn’t take long.
That said, GIs did regularly press abandoned or damaged enemy weaponry into action in the heat of battle – no line soldiers were better able to figure out how enemy weaponry worked, and could be fixed, than GIs.
Don’t know about the zim, but the bow MG is there.
the hatch on the side of the kingtiger, was only on the porsch turret prduction run , the first 50, on the henschel thurret there was a large hatch on the rear of the turret, that was used for loading, because, the ammo racks wereon both sides,and at varirous other points in the vehicle. Yes that is zim, i acheved not to bad results with cav set,looked alright, till my great nephew got his litte hands on it scratch one kingtier, porsch turret, tam kit oh well back the local hs. cheers
