Hi, I am thinking of doing a kit like The Haunted Tank. I know it is a M3 Stuart. What would be a good kit to replicate it? I don’t want all the resin and PE parts, just the basic parts. My skills are average at best. I would like to do it in 1/35 scale if possible.
GI Combat was my favorite comic book as a kid! That little Stuart was always taking on the German Tigers and Panthers and WINNING! I agree that either the old or newer Tamiya Stuart kit will do right for you. Polar Lights, a few years ago, reissued the old Aurora kit of The Confederate Raider that mightr work for Jeb Stuart.
OMG! Tom, I had forgotten the name of that comic 'til you mentioned the Jeb Stuart. Then it all came back to me. It was also one of my favorites as a kid along with Sgt. Rock. Wish I’d kept a couple of those issues. Thanks for the reminder!
I used to read that one among many others. My Mother gave away all my comics while I was overseas. WIth all the different types, Spiderman, Ironman, and all the others, she gave away what today would be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
I’ve got most of my comic books from the late 70s and virtually all of them from the 80s-early 2000s. No way they are worth tens of thousands, and I’ve boxed most of the ones from the 80s and beyond including Secret Wars, Crisis on Infinite Worlds, Death of Robin, Death of Superman, and just about any major shake up in Marvel or DC.
Even in perfect shape, there might be a handful “worth” money but most aren’t especially if they aren’t in pristine condition.
G.I. Combat was always a great read, as was Our Army at War which is where Sgt. Rock makes his first appearence. About 20 years ago, I got hit with a wave of nostalgia and used ebay to buy real nice versions of close to all of the GI Combats & Our Army at Wars and ALL the Sgt Rocks.
I think the haunted tank is a popular theme in military fiction and science fiction, too. I remember reading one or two of David Drake’s short stories, that dealt with that subject.
