......Hasta siempre Comandante................Cuban Mig-21 Bis

Hi all…this is the story of a Pilot and its plane…the Capt.Enio Rabelo Rodriguetz on 1993 defected from cuba to Nas,Key West-Florida,USA…He was granted political asylum…Ciao Enrico.

beautiful…I’m assuming thats the Eduard kit correct?

…Hi Tay…yes …this is the Eduard week end kit plus a Pavla ejection seat and a Master pitot tube…Ciao Enrico.

Another beautiful build Enrico! What colors did you use for the camo scheme?

Nice looking Mig!

Sweet build, Enrico!

Other than the early gun fighters, I’m really not into jets, but that is one fine looking MIG. Nice work…

Betrayal And Hunger

MIAMI — The plan was simple: Fly low, fly fast. Don’t get caught.

No one had a clue about the plan Capt. Enio Ravelo Rodriguez, 32, was concocting - not his mother, his sister, nor even his wife, Elisa Alvarez Pintado, 28.

…Thanks to all for positive comments…Enrico!

@Stik:for the camo I’ve used same tamiya mix for upperside while for underside I’ve used Gunze.Blue 75%X14+25%X2 plus same drops of XF-19 ;Gray:65%XF66+35%XF19…after painted the camo I’ve sprayed the entire surface with the XF19 very thinned(about 80) at 1,5bar from 10-12 inches…

For underside I’ve used Gunze H314 lighter with same white…

Very, very nice. [Y] [Y]

Absolutely stunning, Enrico. Very, very beautiful paint work.

The MiG-21 seems to be a good plane to defect in…

Great looking kit , nice paint, gotta say though it seemed a bit harsh to leave his family behind.

Enrico yet another stunning build, nice background story as well always a treat! Very nicely done Sir!!!

You guys are killing me with these MiGs!! Saw this kit at a show today and it took everything I had not to but it. Awesome job!

love it!

VERY nice build!

Great build. I searched the story as I found it interesting. How scary for his family. The source I found did not go into a whole lot. Hope they were okay.

Great looking MIG, too bad he couldn’t put at least his wife on his lap or something.

Very well done, I like the weathering. There is a MiG 21 at the McClellan museum, and it has a tiny cockpit. Perhaps he could have put hatches on drop tanks for the family. Just humor of course, and I hope he got his family across someday too.
