Here’s the new page on Hasegawa’s website with a little info on the Mikasa kit coming in 1/350th. It was arguably the most powerful pre-dreadnought battleship, and was famous for its particupation in the Battle of Tsushima – the 100th anniversary of that battle is coming up this month!
whoa, thats awesome…im definitely buying that…im still looking to get the Grosser Kurfust(sp?) WW 1 German battleship…ebay has them for about 80-90 bucks though.
i was looking at my LHS and they didnt carry them anymore…i havent really looked into definitely buying it yet…but now i know where to get it…thanks for the link Larry.
No problem. It’s great that someone had the gonads to make one of those superbly engineered German dreadnoughts in 1/350th. I’ve got the Konig and plan to build it up to display beside the Missouri, the Mikasa and maybe a Kirov-type to show the development of Battleship type ships in the 20th century (the Kirov not really being a battleship per se, but a sort of missle equivalent).
Of course, I don’t know if anyone even makes the Kirov in 1/350! Maybe Trumpeter does – I seem to recall them making big kits of Soviet missle ships.
The difference in size between the Mikasa and the Missouri will be pretty impressive – 13" or so for Mikasa, 30" for Missouri! That’s something to keep in mind – the Mikasa is a battleship in 1/350th, but the pre-dreadnoughts were really a lot smaller than the WWII ships – they were even smaller than the WWI battleships (Konig would be around 20"), so judge the price accordingly.
