Hasegawa, Where are the sidewinders?

I have just bought The superb F8 by Hasegawa. What a beautiful kit. But no Sidewinders. Why? They included the Zunis ist so you have to go out and by their misile set as well? Thats a bit mean considering the price if the kit to start with! Come on guys, give us modellers a break! The cost of this hobby is spiralling out of control. This ploy to get us to part with even more dosh is a bit naff!

I agree. Hasegawa stopped providing weapons with their aircraft kits after they came out with their weapons kits. The only time a weapon is provided is when their weapons kit does not include it. The problem is the weapons kit was released almost twenty years ago and doesn’t have the latest weapons used in Desert Storm or later conflicts. Some other kit makers have poor copies of missiles, that don’t even look like the real thing.

I agree too, that aint right[:(!](thats twice Berny[:D]).
I have not checked the Hase F-15 and 16 in a while but didn’t they come w/ some goodies!!
I think the 16 came w/ some sidewinders?

Dang Butz. [:0] Twice in one week. People will start to think I am paying you off. [;)][;)]

Hey Berny,
Your right twice in one week!! What was I thinking?[:p][;)] When you send the check, make sure you leave the dollar amount blank.
I can fill in that part myself[:p][:p][:p][:0][;)]

has f16 block 50 has aim-9m’s(?), sparrows and aim120. But the f8 carried aim9b’s I think. The old monogram f8 kit has the right missles.

This is not good

Right you are Butz, on the F-16 kits. But they (and the F-4’s and possibly the F-15’s) include ordnance only because they were released before the weapons sets came out.

And speaking of weapons sets, at first it may seem that they’re pulling some major nastiness by forcing us to buy these things if we wanna complete the models. But think of what you get in each set, think of what other models you could use this stuff on and also think of what a similar set in resin would cost.

Besides, half of what’s in these things isn’t available anywhere else. And if they are, they ain’t as nicely done. (Even though Hasegawa’s stuff could use a bit of updating…)

I’m rather glad that they have these weapons sets; but in the end they really should provide SOMETHING in the kits. I mean, what’s an F-14 without a Pheonix?

Fade to Black…

Wibhi2. The F-8 started off carrying the AIM-9B and later started carrying AIM-9D’s as well. A special AIM-9C, radar guided version of the Sidewinder, was also carried by the F-8. When the AIM-9C was carried, they were loaded two on one side and the IR guided AIM-9D was carried in pairs on the other. Marine F-8’s very seldom carried missiles and had the launchers removed.
