Any one built the Hasegawa Royal Army Apache Kit, 1/48? I’m sure it is nearly identical to the other Hasegawa Apache kits. Is it a good kit? I picked up one that was on clearance at a local hobby shop. Any references?
Rob,
I haven’t seen it firsthand, but it is probably just a reboxing of their superb AH-64D kit with a few extra tidbits specific to the WAH-64. In any case, it is the best AH-64 kit out there right now.
The Hasegawa WAH-64D is a straight reissue of their AH-64D, and represents one of the first Longbows to enter into the Army Air Corps. Since then, the WAH-64D has been fitted with the Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System (HIDAS). The Revell Of Germany 1/48 AH/WAH-64D has all the bits to build a HIDAS’ed Longbow. You can pick that kit up at a fairly decent price and have the HIDAS bits for your Hasegawa Longbow, plus still build either an AH-64A or US Army AH-64D from the RoG kit.
As for good photo references;
http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search There are around 30 pics of the WAH-64D in the photo database
HTH,
Thanks for the info and link alby and cobra
Rob,
Don’t know if this will help you much, but “Model Aircraft Monthly April 2003” have an 8 page spread on the AAC AH1 with Longbow Radar fitted.
Shots include open bays and cockpit interiors. I also have a cutaway line drawing (in colour) which may help.
By the way Rob, the AAC is not “Royal”. It is known as, Army Air Corps.
Regards.
Pops.
It’s this kit shown here:
