I just received a new, sealed 1/48 Hasegawa 10,000th Hellcat. The decals (numbers, stars, etc.) are sort of creamy, not white. I am not talking about old, faded yellowish decals. The decals look like they were actually painted in cream color because cream color is absolutely uniform in every decal. Any thoughts?
Sometimes Hasegawas white is more off-white than white on its decals, you might try an aftermarket source for the 10,000th Hellcats markings, I’m pretty sure someone makes them.
also, if I remember right, Hasegawas decal white is pretty opaque, so on a dark blue background it might look the way it should

That does make sense. This will be my first build of a WWII US Navy fighter. The Hellcat was not a sexy airplane, but I just love its bastard look.
Almost all Hasegawa kits have off white instead of pure white decals. Just lower quality is how I see it. USMC is right though, I’ve never had opacity issues with them.
