Fantastic painting so far!
Forgive my ignorance as I have never used Future, but I noticed in the before and after Future photos the paint is much darker on the after. Is this a normal reaction to the Future and will flat coat reduce this effect? Or is this all just an illusion of the photography?
Anytime I have used Future over flat paint, it does seem to darken things a little.
ajcmac,
That is some powerful kung-foo you brought to the big brawl, your mad sick skills and techniques would make a excellent article in our favorite model magazine. Do consider submitting this build to FSM, not everyone lurks in these forums. [cmra]
Sometimes, when the colors are darker gives the feeling that in reality the Future dims a litle. I have two photographs on the same site and the same light. It’s easy to make comparison.
In the second photo the model has a wash with oil paints Burnt Sienna and Black.
Oil wash and decals look great. Can’t wait to see the finished kit.
Completed. Is my first Fw 190.
Beautiful job on the 190! Love the seatbelt hanging out of the 'pit, a little something extra to draw you inside - very slick.
Thinking about the Future darkening paint thing… (too much probably!)
Flat paint isn’t really “flat” right? It’s got a texture. When light hits something with a texture like that, the reflecting light probably gets redirected all over the place, making the colours reflected directly back to your eye less intense… put a gloss coat over the flat, and you’re more likely to get those colours reflected back DIRECTLY to your eye?
Any science experts out there to agree or argue with me?! [8-|]
Very Nice…where’s the car?
The car at the moment is in the box. After finishing two or three models that have already started, I build the car and I’ll try to do my first diorama.
Great looking aircraft. Paint job is top shelf. I love the weathering. Rick.
Nice work, me likey Focke Wulfs.
Sure beats my first attempt at the 190. Looks awesome.
One thing I notice is the cooling blades seem almost flush with the cowl opening. I had this problem with the Eduard kit where the assembled engine with glue seems to make the engine ever so slightly bigger…to the point where the fan is too far out. Did you run across the same issue?
Just a gorgeous build. Your weathering is perfect, gives the impression of a used, but taken care of plane.
