Hasegawa F4U-4 WIP

Im just about to start my corsair due to the fact that i screwed up my thunderbolt.

At this point im just seeing if anyones interested in seeing how i get on?

Also im just mentioning that damn that plastics hard. i was trimming up one of the intake thingies in the wing root and it snapped the tip off my blade. brand new #11 blade and it just snapped it.

Or not, ill post some pics tonight and see if that piques anyones interest.

Of couse we’re interested…WIP it up brother!!!

Ok, photos as promised.

This is the kit im working with

Molded in BLUE styrene

Beleive it or not, these are already painted

And just for something interesting

VVVVV Thats the back of my dad in the foreground VVVVV

I’ve never seen blue styrene before.

Good luck with the build. It’s one of Hasegawas older kits & has a few issues, but can be built into a very nice model. Keep us posted on progress.

Regards, Rick

Thanks for the support guys

Issues? Like the plastic actually being made of cast iron? hardest friken plastic ive ever come accross. took me 2 hours to carve out the ejector ports last night and its managed to snap the tip off another blade (bigger this time)

Er question, I remember i while ago someone mentioning a pink interior? what color was te actual interior of a corsair?

Interior green.

Ah, cheers my friend, im working late all this week so unfortunately WIP shots will have to wait for the weekend.

I’d be interested in that one. I’m curious to see if you’ve got any better luck with the F4U-4 than I had with their F4U-5N. That thing fought me every tep of the way. I finally capitulated when I botched the paint job… Someday, I’ll get back to it.

Hmm, i did a quick dry fit of everything last night (i go through alot of masking tape doing that) and it all seemed to fit pretty well. im not expecting too many issues. What sorta stuff went wrong? (you guys are scaring me now lol)

For those of you following the korean war gb, all this is in there. for everyone else heres a quick update.

Since these shots were taken shes been closed up, and ive started priming. Im priming in white to try and get rid of the blue plastic.

Ill see about posting more photos tonight

Thank You for sharing your Corsair WIP. Your work is looking good and I look forward to following your progress. I thoroughly enjoy watching any F4U Corsair builds as my father was a flight instructor in them during WWII. Keep it coming.

Joe

Looks like your coming along great.
