Hi I just orded the 1/72 F-14D hasegawa kit “bounty Hunters” And I waas just wondering if anyone knows what I should expect in the way of accuracy? I hear that to make a accurate F-14D you need to do a few modifications to the cockpit like proper consols and the ejection seats. is that right?
If anyone can helpp that’ll be good.
Thanks
If it’s the VF-2 kit, i have it in the stash and the accuracy is as good as it gets in 1/72. The lines are molded beautifully. From what I hear in the F-14GB it’s certainly the king of 1/72 'Cats. I look forward to it. You should join the GB!
can I still join the group build? I’m currently working on a Has 1/72 “black knights history Cat” I’m nearly finished I’ve just been doing the deceling. It’s looking good but unfortunatly I can’t do pics as i do not have a camera!
I also have a F-4b bird from VF-51 and a F/A-18E super bug from VF-14(It’s odd to see their markings on something else instead of a Cat
] on the shelf. should be good for future builds.
All I need to kow is if the Has F-14D kit has the new ejection seats and proper consols in the cockpit if you can let me know armorman that would be cool.
I am building one Hasegawa 1/48 F-14D kit (#007212). I just begun with this model. I want to know if i stilljoin the GB and where i can join this group. Thanks!
I’ll give you an unofficial “c’mon in” to the group build, but armorman is the controller. You’ll have to contact him and have him e-mail you the registration forms, they’re in pdf (Adobe Acrobat) format.
Hope you two have fun building your Tomcats…there’s a good variety of builds going on. I myself am building Hasegawa’s 1/48 F-14D…some areas have been a total fit nightmare. I’ve shelved it for a few weeks whilst I build something easy, for a “breather”, a couple of 1/72 P-47’s.
Hey Mrex!
Yes the Hasegawa 1/72 F-14D (at least the one I have) does indeed have a few inaccuracies in the office. It still uses the old seats so you will need to source some NACES seats from True Details or another. Also, you will need to update the forward instrument panel. Because VF-2s 'cats were LANTIRN birds, you will need to update the back office as well with a new screen and add a control stick on the left console. These are very easy mods,BTW. If you are not doing a LANTIRN bird then the back office is fine. Other than that the kit it is the best available,IMHO. Check this site here www.anft.net/f-14for more info.
Thanks for the info bstrump!
joscasle and mrex feel free to jump on in!!! The end date isn’t until June. We’d love to have you aboard! Don’t worry about those reg forms- I’ve kept a running track of new entried so it should be no problemo.
Hey fellahs…just pulling your leg about the registration forms. [(-D]
please post the email of armorman to ask for the registration form, thanks!!
